The Unexplained: A Coloring Book of UFOs, Cryptids and Unsolved Mysteries

The Unexplained coloring book of UFOs, cryptids and unsolved mysteries, cover

Forty-five files. Not all of them closed.

The Unexplained is a coloring book built like a paranormal case archive. Every page is a real case: what people reported, what investigators found, and what still doesn’t add up.

A case file on every page

Some of these cases made the evening news. Others barely made it past a local sheriff’s desk. All of them began with someone insisting they saw exactly what they said they saw. Some have perfectly ordinary answers, and those are included too, because a file that closes is still a file.

Each illustration comes with a short case note. The notes draw on reported sightings and public records, including Project Blue Book and the Condon Report, with sources and further reading collected in the back of the book.

Five sections of strange history

  • Sightings: lights in the sky and the people who couldn’t stop talking about them
  • Cryptid Encounters: Bigfoot at Bluff Creek, Mothman in Point Pleasant, and the creatures that left more questions than footprints
  • The Compound: Area 51, Roswell, and the places the government didn’t want to talk about
  • Signs and Phenomena: crop formations, unexplained lights, and strange marks on the landscape
  • B-Movie Night: drive-in theaters and the creature features that turned saucer panic into pop culture

  • Bold, easy-to-color line art with large open spaces

Who it’s for

Adults who want relaxing coloring without the flowers and kittens. The person who has watched every UFO documentary twice. Anyone who likes a good unsolved mystery, whether they believe a word of it or not. It also makes an easy Halloween or birthday gift for the conspiracy buff in your life.

Questions

Are these real cases?

Yes. Every page is based on a reported case, and the notes separate what was reported from what investigators concluded. Sources are listed in the back.

What should I color it with?

Colored pencils, crayons, gel pens or markers. Pages are single sided, and a protective sheet behind the page is a good idea with wet media.

Do I have to believe in UFOs to enjoy it?

Not at all. You don’t have to believe every file. You only have to wonder why some never quite closed.
